Chandeliers and Caviar
A downloadable ttrpg
There's a war going on out there somewhere,
But the war can't touch us here
Chandeliers and Caviar is a hack of John Harper's Lasers and Feelings, inspired primarily by Dave Malloy's critically acclaimed musical Natasha, Pierre, & the Great Comet of 1812, which is in turn an adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace.
In this game, you and your fellow players will find yourselves immersed in the decadent melodrama of the 19th-century aristocracy, as they grapple with love, status, and the shifting tides of fortune.
On the six pages of the enclosed book, you'll find rules for creating your cast of characters, with their entangled web of relationships, as well as a number of helpful plot starters to help you prepare a new and unique story with each different play session.
All you need to play is a set of six-sided dice, a number of trusted comrades eager for a riveting tale, and a flair for the dramatic.
Here's to happiness, freedom, and life!

A nifty game, great for when you want to run an unconventional one-shot. Plays more as a vignette generator than a traditional game; I think you could play this GMless if your group are good improvisers. The relationship table helps get things off to a running start. My group all chose to play men and then rolled a bunch of "tender affection" bonds toward each other, which immediately got us some very dramatic gay love triangles.
I think the "temperature of your heart" is my favorite implementation of the Lasers and Feelings-type roll I've seen yet, it's very thematic and makes a lot of intuitive sense.
